Confused by all of the options for nail extensions? Let me help you.
Here's a table of the main differences between gel and acrylic nail extensions...
Gel (or "hard gel") is different to soak-able, colour gel (such as brand names like Shellac, Gelish or OPI Gelcolor). Hard Gel can not be soaked off. Nope. Nothing. Don't even try it, Sister. You'll be there for ages. Get that stuff filed off by a professional.
Each nail technician usually has their personal favourites for a product and/or brand to use. Mine is Creative Nail Design acrylic.
I have had phases of preferring hard gel over acrylic (because I needed a product which didn't smell so strong while working within a hair dressers) but for now, I use acrylic because...
- I enjoy the process of mixing a liquid and powder
- It's simple to sculpt a natural looking nail
- It can be soaked off with acetone and a little filing
Once the nails are finished, it's very hard to spot the difference between gel and acrylic nails
